Come join us on Saturday, October 23rd for a private, intimate oyster and wine tasting session for the obsessed and the just plain curious, with Oyster Chef Rifko Meier of Oysters XO, Lisa Bonet, owner of B&L Brands, and Cabbagetown’s very own Celine Bufkin of Treasury Wine Estates.
This event will give participants an education into the art of oyster tasting. We’ll enjoy the intricate details of the shell, note the aroma, the texture and taste. We will start with a discussion on everything you need to know about oysters, from the varieties, and farming methods, to flavor profiles. While Chef Rifko teaches you how to properly shuck oysters, Lisa and Celine will talk about the wine pairings that accompany these tasty bivalves. You will be able to sip wine, slurp oysters, and dabble with varying combinations with classic accoutrements.
Chef Rifko will guide you through this oyster flight and we will explore how a perfect oyster and wine pairings will transform the delicious into sublime. And, it will be a fantastic “how-to” oyster shucking lesson presented in a fun way!
Lisa and Celine will curate several wines which will further elevate this tasting experience. Sarah Pierrre, owner of 3 Parks Wine will have order sheets of the wines available and stock up your wine fridge for the holidays!
The class will conclude with your belly’s full of oysters, appetizers, wine and your new found knowledge (and skills!) about oysters!
